“The Americas for Peace” Encounter and prayer gathering at the beginning of the year and on the World Day of Peace was organized by the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the Organization of American States, led by Msgr. Juan Antonio Cruz Serrano.  Chief Celebrant, was His Excellency Evelio Menjivar, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Washington.  H. E. Reverend Tarlie Francis, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Grenada, served with the clergy and proclaimed the gospel. Several Ambassadors/Permanent Representatives to the OAS participated, including Ambassadors Alejandra Solano of Costa Rica, Mayerlyn Cordero Diaz of the Dominican Republic, Manuel Mauricio Montalvo Samaniego of Ecuador, Wendy Acevedo of El Salvador, Claudia Escobar Mejia of Guatemala, Samuel Hinds of Guyana, Gandy Thomas of Haiti, Carlos Roberto Quesada Lopez of Honduras, Ana Irene Delgado of Panama, Raul Florentin of Paraguay.
